The sauna has recently been out of operation while we have been sourcing competitive quotes to address the work required to bring it back to operational functionality.

Unfortunately, the costs involved in making the sauna usable, meeting all health and safety requirements are cost-prohibitive which has resulted in us making this difficult decision.

We understand that this closure is disappointing to some of our members and wish to assure them that we will be looking to reopen the facility as soon as it becomes financially viable.

Over the past twelve months we have been actively looking into ways which can help us address the unprecedented rise in energy costs. We have been successful in securing funding to install energy-saving, green technology which will help make our facilities more sustainable in the long-term. However, it takes time for the cost benefits of these initiatives to be realised and we will continue to monitor this over the coming months.

Yes. While the sauna is not available for use, the cost for using the health suite has been reduced for those who use the sports centres ad-hoc. Membership of the sports centres includes all aspects of the centre at Ebbw Vale and includes full use of Abertillery and Tredegar sports centres too.

We clean the health suite regularly each day and encourage all users of the health suite to respect the facilities and help ensure it is clean, following their visit, for other users. We appreciate any feedback that alerts us to this not being the case so we can address it accordingly.

Following an evaluation of the usage of the health suite we have decided to amend the opening hours from 2nd January 2024 to focus on peak usage times and reduce the cost of running the health suite which incurs significant energy usage.

From 2nd January 2024, the health suite will be open 11am-7pm, Monday to Friday, 8am-1pm Saturday and 9am-3pm, Sunday.
